Quality bike for reasonable price
By chk
I ordered this bike knowing that it would need some assembly. I was worried about how much assembly would be required, so I was happy that the main parts of the assembly included putting on/adjusting the steering wheel, the seat, the pedals, the front tire and the brakes. The manual said some hex wrenches and whatnot were included in the box; however, they were not included in mine. No biggie, since I have my own.Despite very crappy directions in the manual (wth--There were no spaces between any of the words?), all assembly was pretty basic--except for the brakes. Since the instruction manual didn't mention what to do with the brake wires, I had to figure out on my own how to thread the wires through the hand brakes. (I'm actually really proud that I figured this out by myself, because it was not obvious how to do this.) Anyway, after I figured that out, I had to adjust the brakes. I am still not happy with them, as one of the back brakes still slightly rubs against the rim *sometimes*, but it's good enough for now. I'm sure I'll be adjusting them more in the next few days. In general, the "adjusting the brakes" thing could have easily been done by the manufacturer, as well as threading the brake wires through the hand brake assembly. The manual stated that the bike had been completely assembled at the plant, then disassembled for shipping. If that was the case, I have no idea why they needed to disassemble the brake wires from the hand brakes. Also, why would I need to re-calibrate the brakes if it was properly assembled for quality control at the plant? All this being said, I'm happy with the bike. It was reasonably priced and seems of good quality. I rides smoothly and doesn't vibrate or shimmy. Both wheels are true.*Oh, one other thing: It doesn't come with a kickstand. You may want to order one now so you can put it one during the assembly process. ;-)

Great Bike...with Upgrades
By ranthon007
Overall this is a nice bike for the price. I have used it for just over 3 weeks or about 50 miles, so I can comment on it an offer advice for those who buy.In terms of the stock features, the bike is a good "base." It is great with about $70 worth of upgrades. So what is wrong with it to deserve 4 stars?GRIPSExcluding the gearshifts and breaks, the stock grips area are about 70mm or 3 inches. I am a man with smaller hands, and these grips are still way too small. In addition, they are very thin and do not provide much comfort for long rides. It took me one 6 mile trip and I was back on Amazon looking for new. Best grips to get Oury MTN Grip for about $12. These are comfortable and 130mm which is plenty big. Of course you will have to cut off the original grips, loosen the gearshift and breaks, and then move them toward the center. You will then need to use hairspray (yes hair spray) inside the grips and on the handlebar to put on the grips (dry over night).KICKSTANDNo kickstand included. It is a pain the a$$ to not have one. Best one to get is a 285mm which fits perfect (on my Medium frame): Greenfield Kickstand (Burnished Aluminum) $10. You cannot mount this to the frame (where there is a hole for a kickstand). You have to use the provided brackets to clamp it to the frame just above the hole. Don't worry this bike's frame can handle it!BREAKSThere is nothing wrong with the actual breaks on the bike per se. However, you will need to adjust them which can be tedious. This is difficult to explain how to do. I grew up with BMX bikes so I have experience. YouTube for help or find someone with knowledge.MANUALLike other have complained thereisnospacesinthetextofthemanual. If you did not like reading that you will hate the manual! Luckily, I have experience putting bikes together so I figured it out on my own in about an hour. WARNING: You will have to assemble the front wheel, handlebars, break cables, seat, and pedals. Check to make sure that the wheel is not bent. The first bike I got I assembled and then realized the wheel was bent (return was no problem).TOOLSYou will need a 15mm and 14mm wrench (do not use adjustable) and a 5 and 6mm allen wrench. You will also need lots of strength to put on the pedals and make sure you have them on the proper side. I am quite strong (bench 250) and I found it difficult.CONCLUSIONThe bike is solid and with the modification that I made I am very pleased with it. The gear shift works well and the bike rides and looks good. I would recommend it to anyone with the ability to upgrade the features I listed above. With better grips and a kickstand I would give it 4 1/2 stars. With the additional upgrades listed below I would give it 5 stars.FIVE STAR UPGRADESPlanet Bike 6.2 mm Welded Aluminum Bicycle Water Bottle Cage $4Mirrycle MTB Bar End Mountain Bicycle Mirror $12Profile Design Boxer Bar End $16Diamondback Bigfoot Pedals $16

Review of Diamondback Men's 2012 Wildwood Classic 21 inch frame
By Lou
You are able to adjust the handle bars and the seat. Seat is very comfortable. You will need to put this bike together. You need to know how to adjust the gears. Most people will need to have this done professionally. I googled a U tube video and was able to do this my self. Instructions included will not help you with this. The only downside are the shocks. Otherwise this is a good bike.
