What is a Recoil? The dictionary defines recoil as "to spring or come back; react." The Diamondback Recoil takes that definition to heart. Whether it is flying down the wide open trail or making its way through twisty tight single track, the Recoil 29 will react to what is under its tires and then spring back and be ready to take on what comes next. What’s next?: 29ers. The larger diameter wheel is taking over, and with good reason. The Recoil 29 is the perfect beginner bike for those just getting into aggressive riding or those who are looking for an entry level full suspension rig. It was built with a solid platform in mind and is fully upgradeable should you so choose to step up your component package to the next level. Larger wheels are not the only goodies on this beast, We've added a SR XCT 100mm travel fork w/external preload adj. The Shimano SL-M310 Rapidfire 8-speed shifters control an Altus front and an Acera rear derailleur and the HG31 8spd Cassette (11-32t) combined with the SR Suntour XCC T202 crankset ( 24/34/42t) give you 24 mountain crushing gears to choose from. The Tektro Novela mechanical disc brakes with 6" rotors will provide all of the breaking power that you’ll need and the Weinmann SL-7 Doublewall wheelset will provide a tough and stable platform for your bike to roll on. Diamondbacks signature alloy AL6061 Ahead stem and SL318b oversized Mid Rise handlebar create the perfect cock pit while the SL309p Alloy Micro Adjust 30.9mm post and WTB VOLT Sport SE saddle ensure that you can pedal all day long. The 2013 Recoil 29 comes in a stealthy black/red and is available in sizes: SM (16"), MD (18"), LG (20")

Love this bike! I think it's the best higher-end entry level bike on the market for the money. I've taken it on some pretty technical single track rides now, and I'm loving it!! If you're considering getting into mountain riding, and you want a solid bike to get you where you wanna go for a good 5 years.....this is the bike...

I really enjoy bike riding and this product is appropriate for my current level. Its performance in rocky roads in the mountain has been excellent.

Well, I wanted a good entry level mountain bike with dual suspension without spending a ton of money. The bike arrived quickly and free of shipping charges with prime membership. The box was in pretty good shape when delivered by UPS. Once I opened there were a few scratches /small chips in the paint due to poor packaging/protection. I was somewhat disappointed that my new bike I just purchase was not in mint condition. I didn't complain or contact amazon but they can obviously do a better job packaging. I don't feel UPS caused the damage because the box looked good. Simply a lack of padding/protection between the parts in the box. I assembled the bike but realized I didn't have all the tools necessary to completely tune the bike. Therefore, I took the bike to a local shop for service. The rear rock shocks are awesome but the front fork shocks are not designed, nor are they adjustable enough for heavier riders. I weigh 240 lbs and the front shocks would sag and compress to the point it was dangerous to ride. I think they may work great for a 180 lb rider but heavier riders need to plan on upgrading to air shocks. Today I installed a set of rock shox (recon) for under $300 an I couldn't be happier. I can adjust the sag/rebound with air pressure and now I don't feel like a small bump will cause the front shocks to bottom out, sending me flying over the handlebars (yes, it happened). You will need a shock pump as well to service the rear shocks properly. The remote lockout feature of front shocks was very beneficial. I did use to prevent shocks from compressing too much and that is a feature I lost with my upgrade. However, if your shocks work properly, like mine do now, I don't see a high demand for usage. But it's a definitely a feature I wish I still had (as i now have to manually rotate a switch on top of the fork to lock out). The disk brakes work well but do make some noise if they rub on brake pads like mine do but that should pass with break in. Overall, it's a sharp looking bike and good price for what you get. Just realize, you will need to make several upgrades if you want a great bike!
