Compared to a full-suspension mountain bike, a hardtail is better suited to several situations, such as riding to class, buffed-out trails, or just cruising around the neighborhood. Combining the perfect blend of hardtail performance with rugged utility, the Diamondback Response is a value oriented build ready for any new rider or common-sense lover. At the heart of each Response is our rugged Diamondback 6061-T6 aluminum frame with formed top and down tubes providing strength and style with clean lines. A machined headtube adds strength and style while forged drop outs with a replaceable hanger add the finer touches. The components provide more proof of our commitment to providing you with the most appropriate package and value for your money. A SR Suntour XCT 100mm travel fork soaks up bumps large and small, without being overkill. Also on deck is a set of Tektro Alloy Linear Pull brakes which are a light and simple solution to stopping your rig on a dime. 32h Weinmann MX260R Double wall rims laced to 32h MX260H alloy hubs combine to make a durable and long lasting wheelset. The tough alloy arm crank set (24/32/42t) is a good match for the Shimano TX50 front derailleur, the Shimano Altus 7spd rear derailleur and Shimano HG20 7spd Cassette (12-28t). This combo provides more than enough gearing options to get you where you want to go when you want to go there. Diamondbacks signature alloy SL318s stem and riser bar create the perfect cockpit while the SL309p Alloy Micro Adjust 30.9mm post and DB low profile All Mountain saddle ensure that you can pedal all day long. The Response is red and is available in XS (14"), SM (16"), MD (18"), LG (20"), XL (22"). Shifts good, quiet, looks good, good quality, and just to let you know it comes with out a kick stand which was good for me because most kick stands rattle over rough surfaces.I use this bike for riding rough back country roads,and it does well.

This is a great bike and was simple to put together. Anyone with a little bike and mechanical knowledge could put this bike together without having to open the directions. This bike rides smooth and shifts quietly and seems to be worth the money. I primarily ride asphalt and a few dirt trails and this should do just the trick, won't be going back to one of the cheapos from walmart again.

The instructions are confusing as they cover a multitude of models. Written instructions refer to the illustrations and the illustrations are quite minimal, sub-par in my opinion. Fortunately, I am mechanically inclined so I could muddle through. The bike, however, is fantasic! Looks sharp, rides well, handles all kinds of terran beautifully, including dirt, sand, grass, roots, ruts and muck. The seat feels hard and unforgiving, though, so I purchased a more comfortable one for about $20. I have never mountain biked before, but I took this one out on the trails last weekend, and as far as I can tell, this bike appears to be a good one.
