I am a huge classic bike enthusiest and nirve is one of my favorite bike companies. Nirve makes a solid and very easy to ride bike with great quality. The B1 is a great affordable bike that will allow you to add the parts you want to make it your own. I used my b1 as a utility bicycle to get food or carry items in large baskets on the back. One thing you will notice is how solid and easy to pedal this bike is compaired to other cheaper bikes, trust me it is worth the money, nirve can definatly compete with the big boys in cruisers like electra, felt, or 3g however Nirve is a lot easier to get, numerous sites carry nirve bikes, I can only find one that carries electra and good luck finding even one felt. I own an electra cruiser and a 3g venice cruiser and nirve's ride is very similar to theirs just with a slighlty shorter wheel baise but it still feels like a large bike. Buy from companies like nirve, you do not want those cheap department store bikes, lets show brands like huffy, next, and mongoose that we demand quality, not a cheap bike.

I got a wakeup call from the doctor, to start getting some exercise, ASAP, or die... I hate running, or even walking, because I have some bad disks in my lower back, so I thought a bike would be a good, and hopefully fun way, to get me off my butt and moving around. In the last 20 years or so, I've owned a cheap "road" bike, a somewhat less cheap "mountain" bike, and I had the same problems with both: having to lean over to grasp the handlebars hurts my back and is generally uncomfortable, the micro-seats that are popular nowadays hurt my nether regions, and having a lot of features (brakes, gears, etc.) at a low price means you're getting inferior equipment that is hard to maintain and ultimately fails, always at the worst time and place.I'm also a fairly big guy, 6'2" and 240lbs, so I wanted something substantial but fun. This is the lowest priced basic stripped down bike Nirve offers, and it seemed to fit the bill; I just want to "get on my bike and ride", and that is just what I got. This bike is solid and well crafted, even the paint job is very nice quality, and in this case, "no-frills" means that there is no cheap BS to get in the way of just cruising around, casually, but confidently. I hope this review helps someone else take the plunge. It's like being in Jr. High again!

I bought this cruiser to replace a cheaper one I got from Walmart and destroyed after a year of use.This bike is much better quality, and for the price, seems to bridge the gap between too cheap and a more expensive class than I need for casual use. My primary purposes are getting back-and-forth from the grocery store, post office, and neighborhood/downtown pubs. In fact, this bike has nearly paid for itself already in terms of saved cab fair.This is not a light bike, so keep this in mind if you'll be climbing a lot of hills with this single speed.The 18 inch frame adjusts further than I expected in terms of handlebar and seat height. I'm 6'3" and there's plenty of room. You won't feel cramped or hunched over on this cruser.The crank is solid forged steel from petal to petal in a classic cup-and-ball bottom-bracket configuration. Having the solid crank was key for me since I like to stand-up to get going, and have broken couple other bikes this way. The crankarm length is around 175mm and has plenty of travel of a taller riders. The bike rides smooth and quiet.The tires are nice plenty wide. The B-1 does not come with fenders, but I bought a pair of nirve black metal fenders which bolted on no problem. The rear coaster brake also works well and stops the bike no problem. I took inspiration from a couple reviews from the black model and did not install the front brake for a cleaner look.You'll be able to fully assemble the bike out of the box in about 1-2hrs, no problem. My only complaint is bike I received did not have the seat post clamp bolt included. However working with Nirve service was excellent and they mailed me a replacement part as soon as I verified my serial number and purchase.Go for it--you'll love it. The bike looks cool and the red matte finish pops. Nirve offers a ton of accessories. I think I may bolt on a few of these upgrades in the future, but overall I am very happy with everything about this bike so far!
