Cute inexpensive bike

I bought this for running around campus. It works well for the purpose. It folds small enough to fit in my apartment and rides well. It's not clear from the description or the pictures but it does come with a kickstand.This is a nice bike for short commutes.

very chep poorly made

the only good thing this bike is good for is scrap metal!!dont waste your money. i didnt even have the bike for 24 hrs and shit started to break on me. i was riding to go to work in a busy city and the crank arm broke on me. i thought hey maybe i should invest money into a folding bike. i saw this bike here on amazon for a good price and all i can say is you get what u pay for. they should change the name to alpha and omega because this is the first and last time i would ever buy a bike from this company!!very very very cheap bike with cheap screws and nuts and bolts. dont waste your time

Good Bike

Got the bike on Amazon for $265. Took me about an hour to quickly read through the manual and assemble the bike. It came partially assembled and the only parts I needed to assemble myself were the handle bar, pedals, seat and front wheel. Required tools were Phillips head screw driver, Allen keys and adjustable wrench.Front wheel is quick release. Both breaks are linear pull breaks. I had to adjust the rear Derailleur cable tension and the centering of the breaks. Recommended tire pressure is 50-75 psi. Bike operates smoothly. I'm 5'6" (168cm) and it's just a bit too big for me.

Absolutely beautiful!

Of course, some adjustments should be made prior to riding this bike. My disk break does not break too well but overall a very great looking bike. Definitely recommended.Dislikes: Just because it is some what per-assembled for you, but they actually assembled it wrong. The seat is quite horrible, it kind of hurts you after a while.Likes: Looks! 29er madness, gear switching system is absolutely stunning,For the price, it is a great bike. As a college student, this is the best deal to have - I do not recommend buying $100 ish bike from Walmart, had pretty bad experience with them.

Good bike for the money!

This bike is a good bargin for money, Love the way it turns heads at the bike trails when other guys are sporting mountain bikes the payed thouands for. This bike is not lightweight but waighs less than most chrep Wal Mart Mongoose. I like the size of the bike, I'am 5'11" 204 lbs. And this bike is perfect hight. While it is a named a mountain bike I would not take it on hard mountain trails. This Polaris does have a smooth ride and love the fromt break and Shimamo thunb shifters and flat balck paint job. This bike does have to be adjusted professionaly and it doesis go off tune after a crash so I suggest some break latex to keep your adjustment screws in place... the front break is adequate but i chanced my caliper to a Shimano. The seat is a bit rough, I suggest a slick gel Schwinn and save some money. Overall i like this bike and saved money over those light bikes costing thousands. I get a better leg work out with this bike! I give it a 4 rating because is draw back of adjustment and seat and just a little heavy but not bad. Save some bucks... and don't spend so much if you are are not a professional mountain rider.

Great bike!

After reading one review about how hard it is to assemble the bike I was surprised. When I took the bike out of the box it was 90% assembled. The rest took less the 15 minutes to assemble. The bike looks great! All the logos are painted no stickers. The wheels were trued and well made. Some minor adjustments to the brakes were required but no big deal! One small problem the cable for the front disc brake was ran incorrectly. A simple repair of 2 minutes. The size of the bike is perfect for my 6'1" body. Get one! You won't regret it! Oh btw this bike sold for $140 more at Sports Authority. Way to go Amazon!

Very Happy, good value.

This is my 1st road bike. I have had it for about two weeks and I am very happy. I did not want to spend the $700.00 for an entry level bike at my local bike shop and I feel like this was a good choice. I had a friend who has been riding for 20+ years help me adjust and set everything up. He was very suprised with the quality, and told me it was a great value. I can see the difference between this bike and the nicer ones, but I am very pleased with my choice. I just did not want to commit to the higher price. Its not very heavy and it looks very nice. The pictures dont do it justice. I would recomend this to anyone who wants to see if they would enjoy biking without the higher price. I have already rocomended it to a few friends.

On par for the price

OK to task...I purchased this bike in August on sale for 369.00 and it showed up several days later. Assembly was a breeze and there was no damage to the bike. I ordered the 25 in and I am 6'2" and it might be a tad big. Nothing that a few adjustments cant take care of. Right out of the box I did have some shifting issues that I could not take care of on my own. After reading numerous articles and watching YouTube vids I couldn't get it to shift right. I then noticed when looking at my rear Derailleur from the rear it was slightly off parallel to the chain line. So I bent it straight and ordered another rear Derailleur for 18.00 and headed up to my local LBS. He had it adjusted perfectly in about 6 minutes and didn't even need to install the new Derailleur. Now that was irritating since I built my MTB from the ground up with Shimano XT components and cabled and adjusted it myself and it shifts flawlessly.Keep in mind that this is an entry level bike and it has bottom of the line Shimano components. The 2300 parts on this bike are actually Sora pieces that they no longer make since Sora doesn't come in 8 spd anymore so they came up with the 2300 line. The Shimano component listing goes like this.For 2011, road bicycle groupsets include:Dura-Ace Di2 [7970] (10 speed electronic)Dura-Ace [7900] (10 speed)Dura-Ace Track [7700]Ultegra Di2 [6770] (10 speed electronic)Ultegra [6700] (10 speed)105 [5700] (10 speed)Tiagra [4600] (10 speed) 9 speed on older modelsSora [3400] (9 speed)2300 [2300] (8 speed)Now that being said this component group is fine and it shifts flawlessly once you have it adjusted. I have about 1100 miles on mine and only had to make a few minor adjustments myself to account for cable stretch.The rims are so so and I knocked mine out of true quite a few times and have since upgraded to VUELTA XRP TEAM SL's and what a difference that made. The tires are cheap Kenda that dont even have a name and for me were prone to flats. Those were upgraded with the wheels.The seat is horrible for any kind of distance riding and I upgraded that to a Selle Smp Extra and also a Satellite Plus Bontrager Carbon front fork. The fork was 43 dollars on Ebay which is where I buy just about all my parts.I also installed an adjustable stem to bring the bars farther back and a little higher. I`m not a racer so I dont need to be in a hunched over aero position holding the drops.All in all it is a decent bike for the price. yes I have updated alot of components but that is just me. I`m never satisfied with what I have and always feel the need to upgrade. The bike was a deal at 369 but you might be able to find a better bike for the 449 that it is going for now. Good value for your money

I am an avid (poor) cyclist. I usually average about 50km a day when I cycle to and from my house to the downtown core. Getting into cycling is hard for students and people on low budges which is why I purchased this bike.For the components it came with and the style the price point can't be beat. Just be sure you get the right size. I bought the smallest size which comes with a 54cm headtube. On the website it states this would fit someone 5'7 but be warned if you are 5'7 you should get a 52cm bike. So I had to switch out the stem to a shorter stem for $30 at my local bike shop and now it feels much better.Pros:- good value for the $- great style- the seat is surprisingly comfortable for stock- easy to assembleCons:- no assembly instructions in the case (but you can find them online and it is quite easy)- brakes have very little stopping power (swapping out the brake pads for $10 will fix that)- measurements stated on the website are misleading- brake levers are single pulley system and wiggle, under high usage they might rub against the walls of the rim and you might need to swap them out for better brake setHere is a video review of my assembling the bike:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDNaLWwTnME

If you’re having trouble trying to determine whether the comforts of a comfort bike are more important to you than the efficiency of a road bike; get the best of both in a Kalamar hybrid. The Kalamar combines the same relaxed contact point features of a comfort bike with the big smooth-rolling 700c wheels of a road bike. The heart of the bike is DB Hi-Ten Steel hybrid geometry frame with formed tubes and a Hi-Ten steel fork. Simplicity can often make things more pleasurable. Disappointed

After being inspired to purchase bike on Amazon, from my sister who did and seeing great quality product and easy assembly I decided why not. I picked this bike simply because it's simplicity and it looked nice and seeing satisfied reviews on other Diamondback bikes I went for it. Here why am giving this product and the Diamondback 1 Star-The bike came in awkwardly packed in the box with the rear wheel at an angle and hitting brake, properly reason why the rear wheel became very untrue.-Front and rear wheel untrue, especially rear- The derailleur seems to be at an angle instead parallel-Now as I write, the bottom bracket is making clicking sound also the seat is making not well lubed spring sound.- And the hilarious thing is when got a flat on rear wheel, checked the tube to find the hole to patch it up and I realized tube has been already patched up. I brought a bike with patched tube.- Also down side if you decide to buy this bike get ready for a learning experience, installing brakes, truing a wheels, and ongoing problems. That the only positive thing I got from this purchase is experience as a bike noob mechanic, spending hours on the internet researching how to... Bike itself seems nice only if it acted nice.

Great for a beginner

After hearing everyone's negative reviews on this bike I thought I would leave my own. I bought a Vilano Drift around 3 years ago. After taking it to get assembled at the bike shop and hearing the snob behind the counter tell me that this bike was crap, I decided I would ride this bike like I stole it and use it as a beater. That was over 3 years ago. I put on an average of 75-100 miles a month on this bike (exluding winter months) and have really had no major problems. The seat took a bit to get used to but I was also used to big cushy mountain bike and cruiser seats. After a week of "taint" pain it was no problem at all. I did end up having to replace the bottom bracket after a year and a half of serious riding and a halfhearted attempt at fgfs but the Vilano Drift of 3 years ago didnt come with a sealed bb. It was the old cup and ball bearing dealy. This was my first fixed gear bike and this bike caused me to fall in love with fixed gear riding. I made some small improvements (grips, tires, pedals and straps) but other than that I thought the stock was pretty decent. If your looking for a bike to compete in serious races or ride 100+ miles a week, look elsewhere. If you are looking for a first fixed gear or a beater/commuter, I recommend this bike. After 3 years I decided to build myself a fixed gear from the ground up and sell my Vilano. I was sad to see her go but was glad to hopefully pass on my love of riding fixed to someone else.

Good Frame

I gave it two stars because I am only using the frame, all the other original parts have been replaced with better parts. I use my bike as my main mode of transportation, I ride rain or shine, winter or summer. On a slow day of commuting I will travel about 10-12 miles. My old bike frame was showing the wears of time and road salt so I opted for a new frame. Going in I knew that the bike was on the cheap side and that the components weren't the best, but seeing how I was mostly looking for a frame I went for it. For the good lets say the frame came in a great color, no dings, dents, or scratches. It is a light frame and is sturdy.After assembling the bike with the original components and giving it a good test ride, the crank was smooth, and it handled fine. From there it's down hill. The front rim came bent, so it was not used in the initial ride. Brakes are alright, not amazing but they will stop you, although they are hard to keep straightened. The seat was super uncomfortable, that lasted one ride and was switched with my old saddle. The seat post clamp would not keep the seat locked in postion, after making a commute I found the seat angled up making the ride uncomfortable, I had to carry an allen wrench in my bag to level the seat after every ride.To date I have replaced basically everything off the bike with old parts from my previous bike or that I had laying around. If you are the type to ride it every so often I would not hesitate to buy it. Its a great starter bike to see if its the lifestyle for you. If you are a serious commuter and have lots of spare parts like I do I would still consider it. However if you are a serious commuter and don't have lots of parts buy a higher end bike. You'll come out the same if you buy this bike for all upgrades that you will be doing to it.
