The Mongoose 700C men's XCom is the perfect commuter bike to ride around town, work or cruise on the bike trails. Equipped with a rugged aluminum commuter frame, Shimano 7 speed rear derailleur with SRAM twist trigger shifters for precise shifting. Bike was shipped double boxed, but still sustained damage. Rims and both fenders were were scratched and/or dented. Other than that the bike would have gotten 5 stars. It came mostly assembled and the brakes and gears required only minor adjustments. Manual is very detailed for any necessary adjustments. Very nice looking bike.

I gave this bike 2 stars because it does at least *look* really cool.I haven't had this bike for a week yet, but I have yet to ride to work and back without a mechanical failure of some kind. The chain routinely slips off; the pedals broke today; the brakes are...finicky. In short, do what I should have done. Go to a LBS and buy a decent used bike instead of a junky new one.EDIT: Ok so I just got back from the bike shop. The pedals that were shipped with the bike were reversed. The right pedal had a left sticker and vice versa. So keep in mind that you're considering buying a vehicle from a company that can't tell the difference between left and right.

The bike was fairly easy to put together, but the front fender kept rubbing against the tire, and the brakes rubbed against the tires as well. Kinda wish I had ordered that $100 collapsible bike I saw on craigslist. Other than those problems, the bike rides fairly well.
